Microneedling

Microneedling is the process of using very fine needles to create tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin. These micro traumas stimulate the natural repairing process in the body which increases cell turnover and stimulates the production of collagen and elastin, making it useful for the treatment of fine lines, acne scars and the improvement of skin texture, tone and color.

Microneedling is a cost-effective treatment available for all skin tones. It is an injection-free natural way to improve your skin’s overall appearance with minimal down-time.

The procedure involves a sterile tip with stainless steel micro-needles with the depth of insertion selected based on your unique needs. Immediately after the treatment, you may experience redness, irritation and flushing. This will diminish greatly after a few hours and within the next 24 hours the skin should be healed. After 3 days most visible redness will be resolved.

Every patient is prescribed a unique treatment plan to suit their skin concerns; however, most patients require 3-6 sessions spaced four weeks apart for optimal results. You will see results after one treatment! We use the SkinPen, which is an FDA and Health Canada approved physician-only device with the highest effectiveness and safety standards. We apply a numbing cream during treatment and you are provided with a post-procedure soothing skincare kit to take home for maximal comfort and minimal down-time.

Our doctors will assess your suitability and review your expected results.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is the recovery time after a session?

24 hours

How many treatments would I need?

Often 3-6 sessions are recommended, booked one month apart.

Can I get microneedling with active acne?

It’s best to treat acne first and use microneedling for redness or scarring. However, if acne is mild or well controlled, we can work around any lesion.

Do I need to stop acne products?

Avoid retinol for 48 hours beforehand. Aftercare products are provided for the first 48 hours after a session and then your regular routine can resume.

How does microneedling work?

Very fine sterile needles with precision stamping create tiny punctures in the top layer of the skin. This stimulates the natural repairing process and the production of collagen and elastin for a fresh, soft, and smooth look.

Does microneedling help with wrinkles?

Yes, by supporting collagen and elastin production we can see an improvement of fine lines, wrinkles, and sagging skin.

Can I use microneedling for scars on my body?

Yes! This can be used to reduce the appearance of injury or surgical scars and is also useful for stretch marks.

Why should I choose professional microneedling at a medical clinic over a “medispa”?

You will be receiving the most effective and highest safety standards in microneedling! This ensures your treatment is consistent for optimal results without damaging the skin.
