We never fully appreciate our feet until an issue arises. Whether people experience pain, discomfort or are just being proactive regarding the health of their feet, a full foot and gait evaluation can be beneficial. In a consultation we look at the structure and shape of the foot and discuss the patient’s physical activities and what type of surfaces they spend the most time on. We also use a computerized gait analysis system that evaluates far more than the eye alone can detect. It shows precise movements of the feet, timing of the movements and how weight is being distributed throughout each foot.
All collected information is then used to build a customized shoe insert (a.k.a an Orthotic). Orthotics help guide and re-educate the movement of the feet and legs, and are built in such a way as to reduce wear and tear on the muscles and joints of the feet along with strengthening them, improving balance and decreasing pain.
