Massage therapy uses hands-on communication via the soft tissues of the body to decompress, release, and align each person’s unique structural framework. Releasing restricted soft tissue using integrative massage techniques can help to normalize the sensory input to the nervous system, reduce pain and thereby facilitate better movement and posture. The improved sensory input results in a more balanced neuromuscular system, a feeling of lengthening and openness, increased circulation and decreased pain.
During a session your registered massage therapist will go through a thorough history to gain a clear picture of what has brought you in. Using a collaborative approach, a treatment program will be created based on your goals, what is important to you, and what is found in the assessment.
There will be homework with each session so that the improvements gained during the treatments are sustained. Self-care and education are an integral part in creating better function and independence from ongoing treatment. Our goal is to have you functioning well and moving confidently.
Please wear athletic and/or comfortable clothing to your appointment in order to move freely during the assessment and treatment.
